Sally White Fine Art Textiles
Currently lives in Wales. She finished BA (Honors) Art and Design Multidisciplinary course in June 2014 and also gained an award for the Student of the Year at Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthen.
Sally White’s art is presented in the forms of mixed media and textiles and her motivation comes from the environment using nature and landscapes to include patterns, textures and microscopic images. Often there is a narrative involved and this may be interpreted in her printmaking.
Her work in past exhibitions has been made using two types of processes, one of print making and the other of book making. Each process bears its own theme. She has produced landscape scenes in print inspired by Parc Dinefwr, Llandeilo which is run by the National Trust along with architectural views and has told a behind-the-scenes story of Newton House and Dinefwr Castle. Her book making has reflected on the memory of her family with an added family tree centrepiece of 3D design.
Just recently she embarked on a new body of work derived from an installation of flowers taking it on an unusual journey showing the plight of the bee, using rust as a theme and exploring and experimenting with mixed media, textures and a variety of other processes including fabric dyeing/printing – a journey which has become a voyage of discovery and included a whole range of rust prints displayed as miniatures.
She continues to enjoy working with nature, using colour, pattern, textures and the structures of plants, trees and the formation of our natural habitat as she pursues her art career.
